Simple Story:

Dar paayaan, ayene goft: “Aafarin! To a’zaaye badan ra yaad gerefti.”

English

Sara found a magical mirror. She looked at her face. First, she saw her head and hair.

Then she looked at her eyes. Her eyes were brown and shining.

She also saw her nose and mouth. When she smiled, her white teeth appeared.

Suddenly, the mirror spoke and said, “Move your ears!”

Sara laughed and raised her hands. She wiggled her fingers.

Then she lifted her right arm and placed her hand on her shoulder.

The mirror said, “Now walk around the room!” Sara walked with her legs, but her knee hurt a little.

In the end, the mirror said, “Well done! You have learned the body parts!”

Challenge

Without looking above, can you remember:

  • “My hand” = dastam (دستم)
  • “My eye” = cheshmam (چشمم)
  • “My knee” = zanooyam (زانویَم)

Grammer review:

In Persian, adding -am (ـم) often means “my.” For example:

  • دستم (dastam) = my hand
  • چشمم (cheshmam) = my eye
  • موهام (mooham) = my hair(s)
